Humanity has always moved toward new worlds, carrying an endless curiosity about places not yet reached. That curiosity has driven us to overcome countless limits and turn challenges once deemed impossible into reality. With this spirit of challenge and desire to explore, we now embark on a journey beyond Earth and into space.
BEYOND EARTH – Exploration of the Moon reinterprets that human challenge through Mixed Reality (MR) technology, realizing it as an experience rather than an illusion—an entirely new form of space-exploration content. It breaks down the boundary between the real and the virtual, offering the moment when human imagination expands into a tangible experience.

BEYOND EARTH – Exploration of the Moon allows you to move freely between VR and MR, delivering a new exploration experience where reality and virtual merge into one. Following a beam of light that begins in the real space, you gradually enter space and reach the moment when “you” become an astronaut. When an unexpected power anomaly occurs during the journey to the unknown, you replace the battery yourself, restore the system, and continue the mission.
Ultimately, you safely board your colleague who was researching the lunar surface, and the spacecraft lifts off successfully and returns home safely.

BEYOND EARTH – Exploration of the Moon: Specialized Technologies



01.  Immersive VR–MR Hybrid Switching : To maximize immersion and interaction efficiency, we implemented a seamless switching system between VR (Virtual Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality) environments. This allows users to move fluidly between fully virtual exploration and an MR environment where real space and virtual content are combined. As a result, users organically traverse the physical and virtual worlds, experiencing both immersion and realism in a hybrid exploration flow.

02. Photorealism: Based on Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), we achieve film-level photorealism using core technologies such as Nanite and Lumen. Nanite is a virtualized micro-polygon geometry system, and Lumen provides dynamic global illumination and reflections—enabling real-time, ultra-realistic graphics designed to deliver lifelike visuals.



03. Sensory Reality Effects Implementation: We leverage a variety of VFX (Visual Effects) techniques to portray the extreme conditions of the lunar environment realistically. Centered on Unreal’s Niagara particle system, we realize detailed environmental effects such as dust, debris, smoke, and light scattering. In particular, we meticulously reproduce the dispersion of fine lunar dust, smoke and flames during spacecraft launch, and dust flow in a vacuum when the rover moves—enhancing immersion. We also use Volumetric Fog and global effects (Post Process Volume) to strengthen visual direction such as lighting changes, reflections, and flares, providing a realistic spatial sense akin to an actual space-exploration site.




04. Multiplayer Network Synchronization Engine: We built a multiplayer network synchronization engine that synchronizes avatar states, positions, and voice/gesture/visual information in real time so that multiple users can participate simultaneously in the lunar-exploration content. This enables delay-free cooperative missions and natural communication. Role-based interactions and team-level immersive exploration scenarios are supported within the same virtual space.

BEYOND EARTH – Exploration of the Moon: Content Features

01. Hand-Tracking-Based Interaction: We apply hand-tracking technology that precisely recognizes users’ hand movements, enabling intuitive interaction without controllers. Using motion sensors of VR/AR devices and deep-learning gesture-recognition algorithms, even fine finger movements are detected in real time. This allows natural execution of various interactions such as operating equipment, using exploration tools, and scanning the environment. The results of interactions are conveyed realistically in the virtual environment, providing an immersive experience as if users are actually participating in a lunar mission.



02.  High-Quality Modeling: To maximize realism and immersion, high-polygon modeling is used to increase precision. We also employ PBR (Physically Based Rendering) texturing to realistically represent reflectance and surface properties of various materials such as metal, glass, and fabric, and we utilize subdivision modeling and digital sculpting to craft fine surface details. This achieves film-level visual quality across the lunar-exploration environment, creating objects that look lifelike. Through these objects, photorealism (making objects look real) gives the sensation of truly being in space.

03. Multi-User Environment for Collaborative Exploration: We provide a real-time, multi-user network environment so multiple users can participate simultaneously. Explorers experience real-time cooperative missions and collaborative interactions, communicating naturally using voice, gestures, and visual cues within the same space. In the future, an extensible avatar system will allow users to choose roles such as Commander, Pilot, Engineer, and Scientist, supporting role-playing–based scenario experiences during missions. Today’s BEYOND EARTH – Exploration of the Moon goes beyond simple simultaneous access and will evolve into the Beyond Earth – The Lunar Pioneer project—well-suited for collaborative learning, mission execution, and response training—ultimately realizing team-based immersive exploration simulations.
