In the last 10 years (‘12~’21), a total of 196 cases occurred, 165 deaths and 175 injuries
- Once an accident occurs, half of them die (47.4%)
- 44 times higher than the fatality rate (1.1%) of general accidents (more likely to lead to death than falls and electric shocks)

The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that over the past 10 years ('12-'21), there were 348 accident victims due to suffocation, and nearly half of them, 165 (47.4%), died. This fatality rate is 44 times higher than that of general accidents (1.1%), making it the most fatal accident among industrial accidents.
