3. Nylon Synthesis Experiment
- Dissolve sebacoyl chloride in dichloromethane.
- Dissolve hexamethylenediamine, sodium hydroxide, and phenolphthalein indicator in water.
- Pour the dissolved liquid into a beaker containing the sebacoyl chloride solution.
- Observe the formation of a nylon film at the interface of the solutions.
- Separate the nylon film.
- Wash and dry the nylon.
- Use a forced convection oven for drying.
- Measure the weight of the nylon.
