Samwoo Immersion Expands VR-Based LNG Carrier Job Training Course “Understanding and Practice of LNG Carriers” with Additional Sessions
Samwoo Immersion has introduced additional sessions of the VR-based LNG carrier job training course “Understanding and Practice of LNG Carriers,” held in collaboration with the Korea Ship Management Industry Association, in response to high demand. The course, conducted over two days at Samwoo Immersion’s SWXR CAMPUS “XR Eco-Friendly Ship Job Training Center,” offers participants a practical, hands-on training experience.
This program focuses on imparting comprehensive knowledge necessary for the operation and management of LNG carriers, covering critical topics such as safety management, international regulations, and procedural workflows. Through this innovative approach to training, Samwoo Immersion aims to continuously support maritime industry professionals in developing skills to effectively adapt to the evolving industry landscape.
☑️ Essential Skills for the Decarbonization Era: LNG Carrier Training
With decarbonization and the transition to eco-friendly energy becoming key global issues, demand for LNG carriers has surged following the implementation of environmental regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Although proactive management and operation of LNG carriers are necessary, there have been challenges in training specialized personnel due to the limitations of on-board training and field practice.
To address this issue, the Korea Ship Managers' Association has planned a VR-based LNG carrier training program. This training provides a comprehensive curriculum covering essential tasks, equipment, and safety management of LNG carriers. By conducting VR-based training in an environment that closely mirrors real ships, the program overcomes spatial limitations while enhancing practical application.

☑️ Realistic VR-based Practice
Trainees will first understand the structure of LNG carriers through CBT (Computer-Based Training), then experience key LNG cargo handling procedures via VR. They will also learn safety management practices and study international regulations such as the IGC Code and SIRE 2.0, gaining the comprehensive skills required for operating LNG carriers.
☑️ Certificate of Completion for 「Ship Management Practices」
Upon completing the training, participants will receive a certificate for the "Ship Management Practices" course, which focuses on developing ship management professionals. This certification supports the growth of individuals with essential practical knowledge and experience in LNG carrier operations.
