Samwoo Immersion Successfully Concludes the Third Session of LNG Carrier Training Program 「Understanding and Practice of LNG Carriers」
The third and final session of the VR-based training program "Understanding and Practice of LNG Carriers", jointly organized by Samwoo Immersion and the Korea Ship Managers Association, was held over two days, from December 12 to 13, at Samwoo Immersion's SWXR CAMPUS XR Eco-Friendly Ship Job Training Center.
This session was designed to deliver in-depth practical knowledge essential for the operation and management of LNG carriers. The program focused on core job functions such as safety management procedures and work execution guidelines. Through hands-on practice in a virtual environment powered by VR technology, participants were able to simulate real-world working scenarios and enhance their practical skills.
☑️ Essential Skills for the Decarbonization Era: LNG Carrier Training
With decarbonization and the transition to eco-friendly energy becoming key global issues, demand for LNG carriers has surged following the implementation of environmental regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Although proactive management and operation of LNG carriers are necessary, there have been challenges in training specialized personnel due to the limitations of on-board training and field practice.
To address this issue, the Korea Ship Managers' Association has planned a VR-based LNG carrier training program. This training provides a comprehensive curriculum covering essential tasks, equipment, and safety management of LNG carriers. By conducting VR-based training in an environment that closely mirrors real ships, the program overcomes spatial limitations while enhancing practical application.

☑️ Realistic VR-based Practice
Trainees will first understand the structure of LNG carriers through CBT (Computer-Based Training), then experience key LNG cargo handling procedures via VR. They will also learn safety management practices and study international regulations such as the IGC Code and SIRE 2.0, gaining the comprehensive skills required for operating LNG carriers.
☑️ Certificate of Completion for 「Ship Management Practices」
Upon completing the training, participants will receive a certificate for the "Ship Management Practices" course, which focuses on developing ship management professionals. This certification supports the growth of individuals with essential practical knowledge and experience in LNG carrier operations.
