Samwoo Immersion Holds 1st-Year Workshop
for NFS Research on VR Fire Scene Reconstruction

On October 29 - 30, Samwoo Immersion successfully hosted the first-year workshop of the National Forensic Service’s research project titled “Automated Reconstruction of Fire Scenes and VR Immersive Investigation Technology” at its headquarters, SWXR CAMPUS in Busan.
The workshop was organized to listen to on-site requirements from the National Forensic Service and to discuss optimal technical approaches for implementation. Professors from Korea University, Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and Sogang University partners in the research consortium participated in in-depth technical discussions.
Through this research, Samwoo Immersion aims to develop a system that allows investigators to precisely examine and train for fire scene investigations in a virtual reality (VR) environment without physical or temporal limitations.
At this first-year workshop, discussions focused on key technological elements such as “3D Automation and Reconstruction of Fire Scene Data” and “Multi-User VR Immersive Interaction Technology.” The participants explored detailed implementation methods and field applicability. The system is expected to greatly improve investigative efficiency by increasing 3D data precision and enabling real-time collaboration among multiple forensic investigators.
The research team successfully laid the groundwork for integrating Samwoo Immersion’s advanced VR technologies with the technical expertise of partner universities based on the National Forensic Service’s on-site requirements.
Samwoo Immersion will continue to invest in R&D to expand the use of VR technology in forensic science and lead the advancement of South Korea’s forensic investigation systems.
