Necessity

At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, about 300 doctors learned the skills to evaluate the symptoms of coronavirus patients through VR and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while wearing protective gear . “ In this simulation, you feel like you’re in the same room with the patient, ” said
Russell Metcalfe-Smith, director of Cedars-Sinai Hospital’s simulation center. He said that to make up for the shortage of medical staff across the United States, general doctors and nurses are caring for coronavirus patients by teaching them how to properly put on and take off protective equipment, how to use ventilators that are usually used only in intensive care units, basic CPR, and life support devices. Although they are receiving a variety of education, they are faced with the problem of limited time and resources, and technologies such as VR have opened the door to filling that gap.
