Korea Maritime & Ocean University Distance Education Support Center VR Content Enhancement

Application case

Project Name: XR-Based Remote Learning Course Content Development

Project Period: November 21, 2023 - January 31, 2024

Korea Maritime & Ocean University

This project, carried out in collaboration with Korea Maritime & Ocean University, is an enhancement phase following the first year of VR content development for General Chemistry - Aspirin Synthesis Experiment and General Physics - Momentum and Collision Experiment. Through this enhancement, content for General Chemistry Nylon Synthesis and General Physics Force and Acceleration Experiments was created, providing students with a variety of laboratory VR content.

As a result, students can learn the processes of general chemistry and physics experiments just as they would in real experiments, while also preparing for potential safety accidents during the experiments.

4. Confirming Acceleration

  • Allows users to learn the graph representing speed after the collision.
  • Enables users to learn the results based on the average acceleration after the collision.

3. Nylon Synthesis Experiment

  1. Dissolve sebacoyl chloride in dichloromethane.
  2. Dissolve hexamethylenediamine, sodium hydroxide, and phenolphthalein indicator in water.
  3. Pour the dissolved liquid into a beaker containing the sebacoyl chloride solution.
  4. Observe the formation of a nylon film at the interface of the solutions.
  5. Separate the nylon film.
  6. Wash and dry the nylon.
  7. Use a forced convection oven for drying.
  8. Measure the weight of the nylon.
