Samwoo Immersion and Korea Ship Managers’ Association Deliver VR-Based LNG Carrier Training Program

Samwoo Immersion, in collaboration with the Korea Ship Managers’ Association, successfully conducted a highly sought-after VR-based training program titled "Understanding and Practical Training of LNG Carriers" on April 28-29. The training took place at Samwoo Immersion’s SWXR CAMPUS, specifically within the XR Eco-Friendly Ship Job Training Center, offering participants an intensive, hands-on learning experience.

This course was designed to provide comprehensive knowledge on the operation and management of LNG carriers, with a focus on key topics such as safety management, international regulations, and detailed operational procedures. Through this innovative approach, Samwoo Immersion is committed to helping maritime professionals adapt to an ever-evolving industry landscape.

☑️ Essential Skills for the Decarbonization Era: LNG Carrier Training

With the global shift toward decarbonization and eco-friendly energy accelerating, the demand for LNG carriers has surged under the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s tightened environmental regulations. However, hands-on training for LNG carrier operations has traditionally been limited due to challenges in boarding and conducting on-site drills.

To address this, the Korea Ship Managers’ Association partnered with Samwoo Immersion to develop a VR-based LNG carrier training program. The program covers major operational procedures, equipment handling, and safety management, allowing trainees to practice in a highly realistic virtual environment, overcoming physical limitations and maximizing practical application.

☑️ Immersive VR-Based Practical Training

Trainees gained an in-depth understanding of LNG carrier structures through computer-based training (CBT) and engaged in VR simulations of key LNG cargo handling operations. Additionally, they learned crucial international standards such as IGC Code and SIRE 2.0, fostering a well-rounded skill set necessary for real-world LNG carrier operations.

☑️ Certification Upon Completion

Participants who successfully completed the program received a certificate from the "Practical Ship Management" course, recognizing their newly acquired expertise in LNG carrier operations and management.
