Future Talent Development Center SWXR Campus, expanding IoT students’ technical understanding and career exploration through XR-based semiconductor process experiences
On December 3rd (Wednesday), SWXR Campus, operated by Samwoo Immersion, conducted an immersive XR-based education program for 14 IoT majors from the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Human Resources Development Institute. Semiconductor technology serves as a core foundation for IoT students, connecting device design, sensors, and data processing, and acting as the starting point of the industry. This program was designed to help students understand both XR technology and industrial structures, providing an integrated perspective on the future technology ecosystem.

The program began at 9:20 AM with a one-hour lecture covering the principles of XR technology, the role of developers, and its applications in industry. Students learned that XR is not just a hands-on experience technology, but a key enabler connecting IoT, AI, digital twins, and other technologies to create new roles and industries. They showed strong engagement as they recognized XR’s ability to visualize complex systems, combine sensor data with physical environments, and provide intuitive understanding of industrial structures in the IoT field.

From 10:30 AM, the program continued with a hologram demonstration and XR-based semiconductor process experience. The hologram played a crucial role in showcasing the visual scalability enabled by XR technology, enhancing students’ technical understanding. During the XR process experience, students explored the RF sputter-based thin-film formation process in semiconductors, observing equipment structure, process sequences, and manufacturing flows from a perspective as if they were on-site. Students responded enthusiastically, saying things like, “It’s completely different from videos or lectures,” “I’ve never seen IoT equipment creation so intuitively,” and “It really feels like being inside the process room.” They also noted that the experience provided practical insight for future career choices.
A representative from SWXR Campus stated, “IoT and XR form a powerful combination that enhances understanding, and the greatest achievement of this program is allowing students to view industry in three dimensions through XR. We will continue to operate tailored XR programs by major, enabling students from various fields to experience future technologies in an immersive way.”
