SWXR Campus Contributes to Practical Marine and Shipbuilding ICT Talent Development through Real-World Ship Digital Twin Technology Application
The “IX Unreal Developer Training Center,” operated by Samwoo Immersion’s SWXR Campus, successfully completed the digital education program titled “Basics of Ship Data-Based Digital Twin Using Unreal Engine,” held from July 31 to August 7. This program was part of the ‘Shipbuilding and Marine Future Innovation Talent Development Center’ organized by the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency.
The training targeted IT and shipbuilding/marine major students at Ulsan University, focusing especially on practical exercises in visualizing ship engine data using Unreal Engine. It was conducted as a hands-on, project-based course where students directly designed and implemented visualization tasks using real data. Through this, participants gained valuable experience applying core digital twin technologies used in actual industrial sites and developed an in-depth understanding of how digital twin technology is utilized in the marine and shipbuilding industries.

The training program was designed based on extensive experience in building digital twins for various ship and port facilities, including Busan New Port, POSCO shipping docks, and Hanwha Ocean’s LNG-powered vessels. It focused on strengthening marine and shipbuilding-related ICT competencies that can be immediately applied in real industrial settings. Successfully completed, this program significantly contributed to nurturing practical talent and demonstrated its effectiveness through high participant satisfaction and active engagement.
As Korea’s first officially certified Unreal Engine Training Center (UATC) since 2024, SWXR Campus will continue to operate hands-on training programs across diverse fields including marine and shipbuilding industries, leading efforts to cultivate digital innovation professionals with strong field expertise.
