Immersive experiential learning by exploring artifacts and eras in history, MR content: Stories of Artifacts Connecting Eras
NEXUS-X eXperience Content – Stories of Artifacts Connecting Eras
"An immersive history-and-culture experience where visitors explore and learn firsthand by experiencing, through MR, the spaces within artifacts that connect the past and present across eras."
High-fidelity 3D modeling based on real artifact data
Expandable scenarios that span learning, experience, and exhibition
Experience history by directly interacting with artifacts in MR
Understand artifacts’ historical meaning and cultural context through visual materials
INTRO
Focus on passive viewing · Lack of immersive learning · Scarcity of experiential education · Limits to integrating education and promotion
The era of simply “looking at” artifacts in museums has passed. In practice, history and culture education still relies on exhibit viewing and textbook study, which does not sufficiently engage students and visitors. Opportunities to intuitively explore an artifact’s structure, period background, and cultural significance are limited, and effective experiential learning that combines education, exhibition, and promotion is lacking.

Specialized Technologies of the Stories of Artifacts MR Content
Based on user-centered design, participants listen to content from history classes via images, videos, and narration, then immediately observe related artifacts in MR to experience the historical flow by era. This provides a living history experience within an interlinked storyline, rather than passive viewing.
1. Implementation of Immersive Historical Spaces
Key artifacts from each era from prehistory to the modern age are realistically arranged in MR so that participants can experience them sequentially within a single space. After reviewing class content through images, videos, and narration, participants immediately observe the artifacts to understand the flow by era.
2. Artifact-Centered Interaction Design
Participants intuitively observe the forms of artifacts in MR and learn relevant information and historical meaning in real time through narration and annotation. By utilizing 3D data of artifacts from the National Museum of Korea, participants experience forms identical to the real artifacts.
3. Era-by-Era Immersive Storytelling
Each era’s key events and culture are connected with artifacts so that participants naturally understand historical flow and socio-cultural change. For example, through major artifacts bronze tools and ritual objects, gold crowns and silver cups, celadon and white porcelain participants experience changes in power, social structures, technology, and the arts.
4. Modular MR Structure and Learning Expandability
A modular, era-based structure is applied so participants can experience in sequence Prehistory → Gojoseon → Three Kingdoms → Unified Silla·Goryeo → Joseon → Modern/Contemporary or, using the facilitator’s jump function, selectively explore specific eras. This modular design supports versatile use for education, research, and exhibitions.
