[Reporter Seo Sang-jun, Chungnam Ilbo] In order to prevent the rapidly increasing number of safety accidents in mudflats, the Korea Coast Guard has introduced a VR virtual experience system for mudflat safety education for the first time in the country, and will be conducting "Tidal Flat Safety VR Experience Education" at the Marine Safety Experience Center of the Korea Coast Guard Training Center starting this month. It was announced on the 10th.
The Tidal Flat Safety VR Experience at the Marine Safety Experience Center uses the latest VR graphics technology to realistically realize the tidal flat environment. It provides education on safety rules, reproduces dangerous situations such as the speed of the tide, the depth of tidal valleys, and loss of direction due to fog, and provides recent accident cases. It consists of a variety of related content, including the mud flat escape experience.
In particular, in the VR virtual experience program, a more realistic experience environment was created using plastically deformed sand to create a tactile sensation that feels like stepping on an actual mud flat.
Starting in late September, we plan to provide training and experience for new police officers and the general public, and we plan to discover more diverse marine safety education programs in the future to contribute to fostering public marine safety awareness and improving crisis response capabilities.
Meanwhile, a new police officer course student who participated in this training program said, “I felt the high effectiveness of the training through the feeling of being on the actual beach based on future technology rather than indirect training through lectures or videos.”
