From May 28 to 29, SWXR Campus, operated by Samwoo Immersion, conducted the 'XR-Based Secondary Battery Manufacturing Practical Training Course' for students of the Department of Renewable Energy at Jeonju Vision University. This event was held as part of the Busan Technical Education Program under the '2026 Leading Junior College Project Group for New Secondary Battery Industries.' The training was attended by approximately 30 students who will become the next-generation leaders in the renewable energy sector. Through a systematic curriculum, it was operated as an advanced competency enhancement program designed to foster an intuitive understanding of both cutting-edge virtual convergence technology and core secondary battery processes.

This training was planned to reinforce core competencies essential for students in the Department of Renewable Energy, who study the storage and utilization of eco-friendly energy. For renewable energy, securing technologies to stably store the generated power is just as crucial as the power generation itself, and 'secondary batteries' sit right at the center of this field. During the training, Nam Moon-won, CEO of the Korea Institute of Convergence Technology, served as the instructor and delivered an in-depth theoretical lecture tailored to the department's characteristics. The lecture extensively covered everything from the foundational concepts of the four major battery components (cathode, anode, separator, and electrolyte) to the concept of the Battery of Things (BoT). By comprehensively touching upon global secondary battery industry trends, the latest technological issues, and national policy directions, the session provided a macro-level perspective from a practical standpoint, allowing students to survey the flow of the entire industry.

Following the theory-based session, the practical training commenced in earnest with a Mixed Reality (MR)-based hands-on experience, allowing students to vividly witness the actual secondary battery cell manufacturing process right before their eyes.

The MR practical training served as an opportunity to prove the outstanding educational effectiveness of virtual convergence technology. By utilizing MR technology to render the secondary battery cell manufacturing processโ€”which involves numerous micro-processes that are difficult to verify visuallyโ€”into multidimensional 3D graphics, students were able to visually and intuitively grasp the mechanisms of each process stage. In particular, it maximized learning efficiency by allowing students to infinitely repeat practical exercises under a safe virtual environment for cell process phases that undergraduate students typically find difficult to access directly in real industrial sites due to safety concerns or the limitations of high-priced equipment.

Participating students expressed high satisfaction, stating, "Through both the theory and practice, I clearly realized why secondary batteries play a core role in renewable energy systems like solar and wind power," and "It was fascinating and much more memorable to examine the complex battery cell manufacturing process via MR right in front of my eyes, as if I were taking it apart firsthand, rather than just reading about it in textbooks."

An official from SWXR Campus stated, "This training was prepared to help students from Jeonju Vision University's Department of Renewable Energy completely design and acquire secondary battery technologyโ€”the core weapon of the future eco-friendly energy marketโ€”through the cutting-edge tool of MR." They added, "Moving forward, we will maintain close cooperation with the Leading Junior College Project Group for New Secondary Battery Industries to expand the horizons of advanced XR technology and take the lead in nurturing future energy tech talents who will spearhead new industries."
