Samwoo Immersion Signs Business Support Agreement with the Busan Defense Venture Center of KRIT
Samwoo Immersion Co., Ltd. (CEO David Kim) has signed a Business Support Agreement with the Busan Defense Venture Center, operated by the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KRIT, President Son Jae-hong), and has officially obtained the Defense Venture Partner Certificate (No. Busan-139).
This agreement was established to foster promising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with core defense technologies, thereby contributing to regional economic growth and strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's defense industry. Following evaluations of its technological capabilities and business potential, Samwoo Immersion was selected as an official defense venture partner eligible to participate in military projects, and the agreement is valid for five years, from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2031.
Core Defense Capabilities and Business Achievements
Building on its proven experience in naval and aviation simulators, Samwoo Immersion is advancing Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training environments while establishing an open architecture framework. Its core technologies and key defense industry achievements include the following.
Localization of the Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) : Reduced dependence on foreign image-generation engines while ensuring interoperability across heterogeneous simulation platforms.
Major Defense Simulator Projects : Supplied visual systems and training solutions for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft simulators to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and other defense organizations, and participated in the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA)-led project to develop an XR-based multi-user submarine engineering equipment training system.
Intellectual Property and Technology Certification : Holds numerous core patents, including technologies for Virtual Reality Training Simulation Devices and Reinforcement Learning-based Disaster Rescue Route Simulation. The company has also earned the GS (Good Software) Grade 1 Certification, Korea's nationally recognized software quality certification, demonstrating the reliability of its defense training software.
Defense Market Strategy and Expected Benefits
Leveraging its proprietary defense training brand IMXR® Defense, equipment procedure training content, and AR HUD device integration technology, Samwoo Immersion plans to accelerate its entry into the defense Modeling & Simulation (M&S) market.
As virtual simulation-based training systems become more widely adopted, they are expected to reduce fuel consumption and equipment maintenance costs associated with operating real military equipment, thereby improving the efficiency of defense budgets. In addition, repetitive training in virtualized high-risk and extreme environments is expected to help prevent safety accidents while enhancing military operational readiness and mission performance.
A representative of Samwoo Immersion stated, "Through this agreement, we will expand the application of our Korean-developed XR-based training platform across the defense sector while continuously advancing multilingual technologies compliant with international HLA/DIS standards. We will further strengthen our technological independence and global competitiveness in the global defense market."
