Yeosu Maritime Police Academy Tsunami Evacuation VR Training Content Development
Expanding Maritime Disaster Safety Education with VR, in Partnership with Yeosu Maritime Police Academy

| PROJECT | IMXR® Safety Experience VR Content – Tsunami Evacuation |
PROJECT GOAL
| Provide a realistic virtual environment where participants actively practice emergency response procedures. The experience goes beyond passive viewing to hands-on learning that strengthens disaster-response capability, raises awareness of maritime safety, and helps spread a culture of safety. |

“VR safety training can reduce the fear citizens feel in real situations. The educational impact is highly promising.”
 |
| Interview – Prof. Seongwan Kim, Chair of Public Safety, Yeosu Maritime Police Academy |
In maritime disasters such as tsunamis, the Coast Guard leads public safety. This makes education through safety experience content even more critical. By virtually experiencing real situations, both youth and adults can reduce fear and develop the practical instinct to make optimal decisions. That is the core value of this training.
Inside the VR environment, learners experience causes and evacuation procedures step by step, sensing risks that are hard to recognize in daily life. For example, when sudden waves surge at a peaceful beach, trainees can rehearse where and how to evacuate without panic. This prior practice is meaningful preparation for unexpected events.
Overview
VR Safety Training to Strengthen Citizen Preparedness
Following the mudflat safety experience, this project implements tsunami evacuation in virtual reality so citizens can practice response procedures in lifelike settings. Designed for youth and the general public, it extends beyond knowledge delivery to immersive learning for comprehensive maritime safety education. Since the Coast Guard leads evacuation and public safety in maritime disasters, this experiential program helps citizens strengthen their own safety capacity while understanding the Coast Guard’s role.
Immersion Strategy
Samwoo Immersion has expanded education content with Yeosu Maritime Police Academy around a consistent theme of maritime safety. It is built for practical use in real training environments, not just for exhibitions. High-quality modeling, optimization, and intuitive interaction design deliver both technical completeness and strong learning impact.

Key Features – IMXR® Tsunami Evacuation VR

| 1. Highly Realistic Virtual Environments Faithful coastal and urban scenes place trainees inside the disaster. Beach gear and city elements are carefully reproduced, and optimized high-quality modeling keeps performance stable even with many objects and effects on screen. |
 | 2. Lifelike Disaster Staging Natural crowd movement, advancing waves, and rapidly rising water are simulated to convey urgency and realism, helping users feel the tension of the field. |

| 3. Interaction That Reinforces Learning Intuitive actions—running with arm swing, building sandcastles, operating a phone, teleport movement—promote physical immersion and connect to correct evacuation behavior and safety procedure acquisition. |
 | 4. Intuitive UI/UX Visual and audio guidance such as arrows, narration, and in-experience hints direct behavior and steps without breaking immersion. |

| 5. Efficient, Essential Scenarios Focused on the necessities of a disaster, with a problem–guidance–retry loop that enables mastery through safe failure and repetition. |

Learning Management System
A Learning Management System supports efficient operation of the VR experience center. Administrators can launch or stop all four delivered contents at once and monitor each participant’s XO status in real time. This integrated control maximizes operational efficiency and helps maintain a stable training environment.
