Ship Evacuation and Analysis Program

Ship Evacuation and Analysis Program

In the event of an accident, the behavior of the personnel in the ship is simulated and the evacuation result is predicted.

Reproduce the evacuation situation through vessel, personnel, and simulation so that crew and passengers can evacuate smoothly and quickly from a narrow and complex vessel. The ship evacuation analysis algorithm is applied to calculate the required evacuation time (RSET: Required Safe Egress Time), available safe egress time (ASET: Available Safe Egress Time) and various factors to predict the evacuation result. In addition, it is possible to set up various scenarios and set up an appropriate evacuation plan for efficient evacuation facilities through simulations.

Ship Evacuation and Analysis Algorithm

The elements necessary to reproduce the evacuation situation include the vessel, personnel, and simulation. A ship consists of multiple decks, and one deck consists of a ship structure according to the drawing, a node that is a space where people can exist inside the ship, and a disaster representing an accident. Personnel are placed at random or designated positions and move with their own movement speed according to occupation (crew/passenger), gender, age, height, and weight. The speed of movement is affected by the disaster setting area and the inclination of the vessel following the maritime accident. Based on this information on the ship and personnel, in the  simulation  module, the deployed personnel move on the unit node, apply the shortest distance to the exit, calculate, draw conclusions, and analyze.

The movement calculation method uses a cell model that the crew and passengers escape with the shortest distance to the nearest exit  . Based on the starting point and the arrival point, the shorter the √(x2+y2) value on the vertical x-axis and horizontal y-axis, the shorter the distance is, and the shortest distance is calculated considering the placed obstacles. Obtain the current movement speed of crew members and passengers, sort them in the fastest order, and start moving from the earliest. Your current movement speed is determined by your personal base speed and the type of node. According to the marine accident, the walking speed ratio is set as flooding (knee): 0.7, flooding (waist): 0.3, fire smoke (sailor, on-site familiarity): 0.7, fire smoke (passenger, on-site unknown): 0.3. In the case of a side slope due to this, the evacuation movement time is calculated by estimating the rate of decrease in walking speed using the d(1+sinθ)/cosθ equation according to the study of satoh et al., (2006).

Evacuation results can be predicted based on the required evacuation time and effective evacuation time. The required evacuation time refers to the time it takes for crew members and passengers to evacuate. The evacuation calculation method of SFPE is used, and the greater of the time for a group of people to pass through the evacuation gate and the time for the last person at the maximum distance to pass through the evacuation gate is determined as the required evacuation time. Effective evacuation time is the time it takes for crew and passengers to reach the evacuation tolerance limit that can survive in a specific space. In other words, evacuation is successful when the required evacuation time is less than the effective evacuation time.
